our Go Red for Women Venture Fund (GRFW Fund).The selected
candidate's location is flexible, provided it allows for effective
and cost-efficient travel and ready collaboration with the American
Heart Association Ventures team.The Association offers many

locally.ResponsibilitiesThe American Heart Association's Go Red for
Women Venture Fund is a new investment fund ($75M capital target)
with a mission to improve the health and well-being of women by
addressing medical and health conditions (outside of reproductive
health) that are specifically or disproportionately experienced by
women throughout their life stages.The GRFW Fund is sponsored by
the Association and specific key donors (it is not an LP fund) and
will invest in a variety of organizations dedicated to addressing
those conditions that align with the mission of the American Heart
Association, including cardiovascular health, brain health, and
associated conditions, including metabolic, kidney, sleep and
others which are known to have a link to overall heart and brain
health. In keeping with our mission, we also focus on supporting
equitable, sustainable entrepreneurial innovations.The GRFW Fund is
a new Association Ventures entity and will invest in for-profit,
early-stage companies with a goal to make a meaningful impact on
the lives and health of women throughout the United States and
beyond and to make a meaningful financial return for the
Association. This is intended to be a double-bottom line venture
fund that makes an impact and makes market-level returns.The Fund
is seeking a highly experienced venture professional to manage this
new program. This individual will report to the Managing Partner of
American Heart Association Ventures.The right candidate(s) will
possess at least 10 years of venture capital investment experience,
an entrepreneurial background, and a serious commitment to
delivering positive impact in the realm of women's health across
the life stages. The team will be instrumental in the long-term
success of the funds including driving strategy, portfolio company
selection, leading the investment process, monitoring portfolio
performance, and advising portfolio companies.The ideal leader will
ensure the alignment of the Funds with the Association's vision,
mission, and values and will be responsible for collaborating with
an interdisciplinary team of Executives, Social Impact Fund
Governance Committee Members, American Heart Association Board
leaders, national and local volunteers, and senior staff leadership
to ensure the growth, implementation and measurement of the Funds.
The team will also be instrumental in representing the Funds in
support of fundraising activities led by the Association's
exceptional fundraising team.This role requires an action-oriented
individual (s) with superior analytic and communications skills,
both written and verbal; team management skills; excellent
financial management skills, and deep familiarity with venture
investing and, ideally, women's health issues beyond reproductive
medicine. A key part of the job includes engaging with internal and
external stakeholders nimbly, thoughtfully and with the utmost
integrity.Serve in a lead role in a key new unit of the
Association's Venture Capital group, ensuring the financial
efficacy, mission-delivery and entrepreneurial evolution of this
evolving entity; Responsible for applying a proven track record of
success to this core area of the Association's mission.Establish,
organize and/or facilitate: (1) governance and operating models,
(2) investment strategies, (3) sourcing, cultivating and deal flow
generation; (4) due diligence activities, (5) team management, (6)
portfolio management, and (7) reporting.Financial and legal
oversight of the GRFW Fund in cooperation with the Association's
Ventures and the Association's Finance and Legal
Departments.Understand and integrate external market trends and
possess an exceptional ability to translate that knowledge to
strategy, as well as to communicate market trends to internal and
external stakeholders.Convene and help to facilitate key volunteers
and stakeholders as necessary in the business of the Fund; maximize
meeting time utilization, ensuring meeting objectives are met and
managed to desired outcomes.Collaborate successfully with
Association executives, key business development and fundraising
staff and Association Ventures leaders to build relationships and
assist in the acquisition of additional financial support for the
Fund initially and as the Fund evolves.Represent the Fund publicly,
and establish, track and oversee a broad spectrum of external
outreach, provide thought leadership to enable development and
stewardship of donors and key stakeholders central to productive
relationships.Evolve/develop and execute a marketing strategy in
order to raise awareness of the GRFW Fund and the Association's
efforts to improve the health of women in close collaboration with
the Go Red for Women Team.Oversee collaboration, integration and
accountability with the rest of the Association Ventures team, as
well as with key leaders at Association and it's Board of
Directors, Governance Council and other entities regarding business
operations and mission impact, achievement of milestones, and
strategic plans.Coordinate and execute a range of projects: Track
and support the execution the disparate and various projects
required to launch and sustain the Fund successfully.Represent the
GRFW Fund with sound judgment and integrity both internally and
externally.Identify potential issues proactively: Timely escalation
and resolution of mission-critical developments in a fast-moving
environment.Continue to drive growth and impact of the Funds: with
a positive and problem-solving attitude, tackling a range of
projects and issues as they arise in the dynamic and evolving
start-up environment.Demonstrate leadership and agility in
engagement of the Association's matrixed management and operating
structure, as well as manage a direct team of 1-2 people.Lead
implementation of the fund's operational plan, which may include
hiring, developing and motivating key team
members.QualificationsMust possess a minimum of fifteen (10-15)
years of experience in venture capital investing at a corporate or
independent venture fund with a proven track record of success in
achieving returns and impact.Ideally will also have at minimum of
five (5) years of entrepreneurial or start-up experience.Must have
a minimum of fifteen years (15) years of experience collaborating
with executives, steering committees, and expert advisors.Must have
a strong knowledge of women's health issues and a commitment to
promoting health equity for women.Will ideally have a deep
understanding of healthcare issues that women face in the realms of
cardiovascular and brain health, and related conditions; this is
not a role for people who wish to focus on reproductive health as
that is not within the fund's scope.Must have a strong working
knowledge of evolving business models, financial models and impact
investing tools and instruments, as well as strong financial
analysis skills.Exceptional communication skills essential: must
have the ability and savvy to successfully engage with high level
leaders, portfolio company CEOs, investor community members, other
stakeholders, fundraisers and media.Ideally will possess
supervisory experience managing direct reports and external
consultants. In addition, must have a successful track record
working in a "matrixed" management environment.Will possess an
existing network of venture capital investors (institutional,
corporate, foundation, family office and individual) and be willing
to leverage this network for the benefit of the program.Highly
organized manager with excellent interpersonal and project
management skills.Highly detailed, mission-focused and
team-oriented.Exceptional ability to produce high-quality
quantitative and qualitative work products under tight
deadlines.Travel is required (at least 25%) local and overnight
